This is trapped in the closet by R.Kelly
What I like about this video is that there is a storyline relating to the lyrics which makes the video more interesting to watch, it makes it feel like a movie and it makes the audience get interested in watching the video which makes the song more enjoyable.
Some songs that don't have a video that relates to the lyrics do not seem as interesting to me, because of this in my music video I would definitely like to make my video match my song lyrics to give it more life and make it more interesting.
We get different views of what is happening from different places. We see the man in the closet who is looking out from the closet.
While the singer is singing, the lyrics exactly what is happening in the music video, the singing is lie a narration of the movie.
The music video is taken in the same set, in the same room through out, with the same characters.
Andrew Goodwin also says that 'There is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals (with visuals either illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics)
My second video is Holiday by Dizziee Rascal, I really like this video and song and what i like about it is the setting as it is in a posh house with a pool and it gives the effect that it is summer as everyone is partying and having a good time with one another and also they are in the swimsuits because of the weather and the scenery. This suggests that the weather is hot meaning that it is summer and it gives off the summer feel.
The video also relates to the song very well as he is talking about the holidays and makes you feel that you are in the video, this is the effect that i want my video to have, i want my audience to feel that they can relate to the video and really enjoy it.
The location of this video is in a big house with a pool which is a connotation of wealth and it gives off the idea that the performer is wealthy.
In this video, everyone was dressed similarly, the costume was swimming costumes and summer clothes.
There is a use of different camera shots, close up of the performer, establishing shot of the whole scene, tracking shot of the party guests, mid shot of the dancers, etc.
while the performers are singing, there is a lot of cutaway used, we see the party guests dancing and having a good time.
The lighting is very bright and it gives off a nice effect that we would like to use in our video.
In my reading of pop star theory, Dyer says that a star is an image and it is not a real person that is constructed, this is interesting because i thought that dizzie rascal was the star of this particular music video.
Andrew Goodwin also says that 'There is a demand on the party of the record company for lots of close-ups of the main artist/vocalist"
This is another music video that i enjoy, and this is Single Ladies by Beyonce and Beyonce is known for her well choreographed videos which are very professional and her dance moves are amazing, this is what her fans like about her, the fact that she is such an amazing dancer and most of the time while performing live she sings and dances at the same time.
I like the choreography in this video and even though she wears the same costume throughout, you don't get bored of the video because her dance moves keep you interested.
In my video i would like to add a bit of choreography, something that would give it a jaw dropping effect like Beyonce's single ladies.
The video is fully in black and white and there are a lot of blackouts and changes in the background set from white, to black, to grey, etc.
There is a good use of quick shots which relate to the song tempo and the use of zoom to focus on the dancers.
There is a use of costume for the performers as they all wear the same outfit, have the same hairstyle and their make up is similar, they are also doing the same dance moves throughout, this suggests that they all want to look the same.
She is in the same scene throughout, she does not have a wardrobe change or make up/hair change and the video is still not boring.
Eminem is known for having some unusual videos, he has a very humorous side and he likes to make fun of other celebrities and he makes very funny videos.
In this video, he is very funny and this is what i like about the video, he wants to make the audience laugh because he is making fun of what the celebrities are doing or have done in their lives.
In my video, i would like to add some humor so that my audience does not get bored easily and so that the enjoy the video.
Throughout the video there are a lot of different sets and scenery. there were a lot of costume changes, make up, actors used in the video.
He did this because he was trying to look like many of the celebrities that he was rapping about. There were so many props used such as a jail cell, giant teddy bears, cars, a bar, electric chair, a giant robot, etc.
The editing used was zoom, fast forward, the use of computer generated images to make the fire look real, etc
Andrew Goodwin also says that "There are likely to be inter-textual references, either to other music videos or to films and TV texts" this is what Eminem is doing in his video as he is making fun of other celebrities and he is taking shots and ideas from their videos and from other various movies.
Runaway Love by Ludacris is another music video i like because it is a video that is very emotional and the rapper is speaking about things that happen in everyday life which even makes it more emotional because it is something that we can relate to.
In the video there are 3 different stories that are being told and there is a use of parallel storylines so we see them all, also in the video when the actors are playing their roles, the singer/rapper is in shot of the narrative element but is not taking part in the video, so the actors act like the performer is not there but we the audience cam clearly see him.
Some good stuff here. Space out your paragraphs, and check some of the spelling too. Also, Dyer's theory talks about how the video helps create a 'pop star', metaphorically, not literally. Dizzie Rascal is real, don't worry!
